Comenzará hoy 40 Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano (+Infografía)

El 40 Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano se celebrará desde hoy 6 de diciembre y hasta el 16, en gran parte de los cines de la capital. En conferencia de prensa realizada en el Hotel Nacional Iván Giroud, presidente del certamen, apuntó que evaluaron más de 1400 obras, de ellas 373 integran la programación oficial del evento. Asimismo puntualizó que participan 40 países, 20 de América Latina y 20 de otras regiones geográficas.
De manera muy especial se homenajeará a Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, nuestro querido Titón, al cineasta argentino Fernando Birri, a quien se le conoce como el padre del nuevo cine latinoamericano y a La Habana, ciudad maravilla, próxima a cumplir cinco siglos de existencia. En concurso participan 20 largometrajes de ficción, 22 cortos y mediometrajes, 18 óperas primas, 25 documentales, 26 animados, 19 guiones inéditos, 24 carteles y siete filmes en post-producción.
Además se entregarán dos corales de honor a la productora mexicana Bertha Navarro y al Instituto Sundance de Estados Unidos. Ambos se entregarán durante la ceremonia de inauguración, el propio día 6 de diciembre en el Teatro Karl Marx, así como se cancelará un sello postal conmemorativo por las cuatro décadas del festival.
Durante la conferencia, Giroud entregó un Coral honorífico al Hotel Nacional de Cuba, por su colaboración como sede principal en cada una de sus ediciones. De los invitados internacionales resaltaron que vendrán, Emir Kusturica, Benicio del Toro, Michael Moore, Pual Laverty, Matt Dillon, Geraldine Chaplin e Icíar Bollaín. El programa del evento incluye exposiciones, talleres y conferencias. El presidente del festival también acotó que este año las actividades giran en torno a qué es hoy el nuevo cine latinoamericano, por lo que se invita a un momento de reflexión durante esos días.
